In which my niece gives herself a DIY haircut...

My sister and her clan were here last week. She has 4 kids and one on the way so our house was hopping! The age break-down went like this: 12, 8, 6, 4, 3, 2. By nightfall, I'm not sure who was more tired, the kids from playing with each other all day; or their wranglers, I mean parents.

But getting back to the title... at one point, my niece, the newly minted 6 year old, came downstairs and we quickly realized her bangs were gone. They weren't just trimmed a bit unevenly. They were cut back to the hairline! Questions from all four parents started flying. Stretch and I were convinced one of our girls (the 4 year old specifically) MUST have had a part in the haircut. Oh, the relief when it was determined that no, our niece had done it all by herself. I was also relieved it wasn't one of ours that had cut her hair! Does that make me a bad mom or a bad aunt? Hmm.

Update: Here are the, ahem, bangs:

Oh, no! I can totally understand the relief when you realize your child was not part of the crime! That doesn't make you a bad mom or aunt. Did you take pictures? If not, that may make you a bad blogger. LOL! :)

I did that to myself when I was about her age...thank goodness no one else was responsible!

OH my! We had a 3 year old do this this year. She grabbed the entire top of her head and did a self-induced mullet. She had MUCH longer hair in the pony tail area than Niece did. It is awkward to say the least. Her parents refused to cut the pony tail and are just slicking down the top. I felt great relief to know she didn't do it at school on our watch so I understand your relief.

I can't imagine what your sister said. I'll have to go to Facebook and ask!
