tall thin weeds

I mentioned in the last couple of posts that the girls had their yearly check-ups this week so that they could be enrolled in school (okay, fine, preschool for one). Once again, it was brought home just how weak my genes must be. After the girls had each been weighed and measured by a nurse (not a corpsman? this civilian doctors' office is gonna take some getting used to), we were put into an examining room to wait for our new pediatrician. She came in and the first words out of her mouth were that both girls were tall for their age but thin. Like this is news to me. They get both of these traits from Stretch, obviously. Big Sis's height and weight percentiles were inversely proportionate to each other, which I thought was funny: Her weight fell into the 47th percentile while her height was in the 74th. She's actually come down from her days at the 90-95th end of the chart. L'il Sis on the other hand topped the height chart at 98th percentile. But that is down from her infant days when she was off the charts. Yeah, those are not the Asian genes at work.

Did you throw out the "my husband is a VERY tall man" disclaimer to the pediatrician?

You know I did! I think my exact response was, "Well, their dad is 6'8" and on the thin side."

As I've mentioned before, my husband was 6'8" and he weighed 180 pounds. However, my tall daughters are both overweight. My middle daughter was always plump and one time when we were camping a little boy camping nearby came over and wanted to play with the "chummy" girl.

this is not the problem in OUR house...both my kiddos fall on the short side...usually less than 50th percentile for height...but they are usually right at 50 for weight. We are both shorties in our house (I'm 5'2", hubby's 5'7")

Neither boy is on the tall side but they for some reason are on the small side. Dash-2 just hit the 20 percentile for weight and its the highest either boy has been! Thank goodness the chubby genes are losing out in this house!

the problem would be solved if Stretch took them to the doc! LOL No questions, no concerns....

Meredith,
Comments like that don't win you any points. Remember words that help, not words that hurt (me)
