go vote

Get the Gouge is currently running a funniest military story essay contest. Voting starts today and ends Sept. 30. If you feel so inclined, head over there and vote. And I'm not just saying that because I have a story up for the contest. (Mine is the one that combines lactation and the Navy.)

Update: They seem to have had a glitch in the voting. If you've already voted, please go back and cast your vote again. If you haven't already voted, click on the link above, select your favorite essay from those listed on the right sidebar and click on "vote."

I voted for you. Heh. (Funny concept having a male lactation consultant. I'm still trying to wrap my head around this whole all-male experience.)

Did I ever tell you about the corpsman who told me he didn't want to look "down there" when I thought my water had broke after being induced. Same hospital where your male lactation specialist was. You know once you are pregnant you go through so many exams any ounce of modesty you had is out the window. I was like, seriously dude, you're working in L&D. Every other staff member on this floor has looked down there today. But what I really said was, "Well can you get someone who will?"

I think a male consultant might have some benefits.. at least you didn't have the one-upper experience. (my consultant nursed twins to age 3!) - She was also in my La Leche League so I knew all the gory details. He can't say that. I'd hate to be his wife and not be able to get my infant to latch on!

I voted for you! (again)
