Really. Don't call us.

Last night, I heard Stretch answer the phone downstairs and speaking in Korean. I assumed my mother was on the phone, but Stretch didn't call me and by the time I finished what I was doing and went downstairs, he was off the phone. Hmm.

Since moving here, we are constantly getting phone calls from telemarketers and pollsters (despite being on the national do not call list). Last night, the phone rang and Stretch looked at the caller ID and reasoned it was either a telemarketer or a pollster. So, he decided to have some fun with it. He answered the phone with, "Yo-bo-say-yo." (Korean telephone greeting) Then, he continued to speak to the person on the line in Korean, frustrating the poor man until he finally hung up.

Such a great idea, and it keeps his language skills up! Wouldn't it be funny if the telemarketer spoke Korean too?

the do not call list update that we did when moving here did it's work... we don't get these anymore. When we were - DH would answer with his limited Italian, I'd start the German, or he'd haul out the little bit of Farsi/Arabic... now before the list started many moons ago, he'd ask the telemarketer to wait, get some PB, put peanut butter on the phone and give it to the dog to lick... AFter he finished laughing, he'd wipe down the phone REALLY well..(after being caught at this little game by me..)

Always wondered what that guy on the other end thought...

I love this story! What a way to keep up with his language skills! Fortunately, in Oki we don't get telemarketers yet. I will steal this idea back in the States and have M use his Russian.
