Not exactly mother of the year

My friend Jody comes up with the best kid-parties. Her latest effort was a Jungle theme for her newly minted 5 year old. She managed to pull off another great party for her eldest shortly after moving into a new house in a new state. I have got to find a way to live in the same town as this woman, or at least within a couple of hours drive-time. Seriously. My poor kids have been short-changed this year. L'il Sis got a "family" party when she turned 4 in May and cupcakes taken to her preschool. Big Sis got a family outing for horseback riding last weekend (more on that later) and we'll celebrate as a family next week. And that's it. No parties. No themes. *sigh* Maybe I'll do better next year. Maybe I can talk Jody into coming down and party-planning for them...

Girlfriend, you give me way too much credit. That is one of the sweetest things anyone has ever written about me. Thanks for thinking so highly of my party planning. That degree in elementary education pays off once in a while. I feel loved :):)

And I think your family outings are great ideas. Rachel got to go horseback riding with our previous church this past summer and she would probably kill to go again.

That is a *very* cute party idea. I tried to theme it this year for Quinn. He wanted a pirate party and I went all out with eye patches and making Pirate names for everyone, and then... he wanted to have it in the Space Cave (a party room with black lights and painted stars on the ceiling). We ended up with Pirates in Space. Very odd.

Little girls like y'all have don't mess up plans so much. (wink wink)

I just try to remember that motherhood is a lifestyle choice and not a competition and that the friends just enjoyed our disjointed celebration anyway.

sigh. I'm like you. Both my boys are winter babies and up here its the dead of a snowy winter so its not like we could do anything outside. We always do family parties (usually two since daddy is never home for the first!) and we do make it a special day. Their still too young to need to do a big thing with friends, at least in my opinion.

Hey right now its a big party or money in their college fund. They'll thank me later!

My daughter has gotten jipped for her birthday. Especially when she turned 4, her brother was born 2 days later.
